it seemed my whole life revolved around it and i wanted to do everything i could to make my bit as best as i could. i still remember how happy i was when i got selected to be in the contingent. i was like so happy-happy-man i couldnt stop myself from going to the swing the school and just go as high as i could. woo.
subsequent weeks were all super long. there was a day when we were trapped in the indoor stadium for hours until 12 midnight when the army guys finally secured a bus for us to leave.
all that finally payed off. i finally understood. and not to mention, it was probably on of those prodest moments of my life, singing the national anthem in the parade ground with the helicopter carrying the giant singapore flag. very beautiful. ooh. i remember conjuring up impossible scenarios with a particular person in the same contingent (nothing sick).
hehe. i'm sure there was at least one other guy doing the same. ahh. and i wish more people would take today more seriously. they can start showing that by hanging the singapore flag at their homes. i mean, it may not be much, but it looks so cool whenever you turn around and you see so many flags everywhere. and its pretty symbolic.

this is my block. at least part of it. so cool. the whole column is full of flags. and there are more at the other parts (i think my block got damn lot of flags. haha.)
anyways, happy national day! and no matter what other people think, Singapore is a great place and i think i am so lucky to have spent my entire life here. (:
